On a mound on top of a high bank close to a Little Chef restaurant on the east side of the A9 close to where the dual carriageway starts.
LOCKED There are concrete steps up the bank for access. All surface features remain intact with some flaking of the green paint. There is a double step up to the access shaft. A line of disused telegraph poles on the other side of the A9 probably once served the post. The hatch is locked.
2018: The A9 is going to widened so the post will be built over. There was a final Open Day during Days Open Days. Then the contents were removed for use at another post that is being restored.
A brick aircraft post stands alongside consisting of a rectangular building approximately 7’ X 5’. It consists of an open topped observation area approximately 5’ X 5’ and a crew room with a sloping tin sheet as a roof. The wooden instrument mounting is still intact.
Opened in 1963 and closed in 1991.
