The Sub Brit Collection is an archive of papers, photographs, plans etc. relating to numerous bunkers and Cold War installations throughout the UK.
In 2006 an appeal was made to members of Subterranea Britannica to raise funds for the purchase of the archive which was located at RAF Holmpton and ran to some nine filing cabinets. With thanks to over 60 members of Sub Brit a substantial sum of money was raised which secured the archive and it was moved to a new, secure location in the Home Counties.
Over a number of years the photographs and documents have been carefully indexed, scanned and the first batch are now available on this web site. The Collection represents a unique collection of documents which otherwise may have been lost, but are preserved here for the benefit of the public and reveal a snapshot of a time in history which may otherwise have been forgotten. Many of the sites illustrated in the photographs have since been demolished or altered in some way so we are able to examine the subject in its original form.
