I have used this book along with various other sources to write this.
A temporary hydro-electric power station was built at Monessie in the Spean valley. A large dam was built across Loch Laggan and this fed Loch Treig through a 3½ mile rock tunnel. Loch had a small dam to raise the level of the loch and fed the smelter at Fort William through a 15 mile tunnel. This did not go ‘through Ben Nevis’ as is sometimes claimed.
