Holderness District Council Emergency Centre at Skirlaugh on the west side of the A165. The bunker was built in 1989 and is located beneath the Council Chamber, which is a small extension between the old workhouse and the new council block to the rear. Holderness District Council was abolished in 1996 although the bunker was taken out of use some years earlier, not long after it was completed. The bunker is now used as East Riding Council’s reserve archive store. The main entrance is inside the Council Chamber although two ventilation stacks are clearly visible alongside the building as is the emergency access shaft below a manhole cover.
