In a high square overgrown compound on arable land on the former USAF Polebrook Airfield, 200 yards East of un-named minor road. (Best accessed through a hole in the hedge opposite the entrance to Kingsthorpe Lodge Farm).
OPEN The compound fencing is unusually high for a rural site. All surface features remain intact but the hatch is partly detached and the ventilation shaft is in poor condition with the top resting on its four reinforcing rods. The post is flooded to a depth of five feet. The post was inspected again in November 2006 and the water level had risen by two feet with some damage to the concrete apron around the access shaft.
An aircraft post consisting of a small area surrounded by metal railings stands in one corner of the compound.
Opened in 1964 and closed in 1968.
