DEMOLISHED The only evidence of the post is a depression in the ground just to the west of the trig. station. A line of telegraph poles ends at the corner of a field 200 yards to the east. The line went underground from this point.

I used to walk the dog with my grandfather back in the 80’s up on North Hill & the entrance shown in your photo was visible then. My grandfather lived in the bungalows nearby & being an ex-army sergeant he convinced me that it was the entrance to an old nuclear bunker. Years later, when the sites became public knowledge, I was shocked & pleased go see that his story was right!
I walked up there this afternoon to see what was up there now & there was no sign of the fenced off area with green cover in the photo. You can still see from the shape of the ground that something was under there. By the way, do you know if the space was actually filled in? I had a stamp around but I couldn’t feel any hollow space under my feet!
Anyway just thought I’d update you on the now disappeared fenced off area.
