The Tamar Bridge, opened in 1961 and provides a road crossing of the river Tamar which separates Devon and Cornwall. It complements the rail crossing of the Royal Albert Bridge which opened in 1859.
There is a free visitor centre celebrating the history and heritage of both bridges on the Devon side. The centre offers guided walks and has recently started offering visits inside the structure of the bridge into one of the enlcosed anchorage chambers where the suspension cables are fixed into the ground.
