On low mound at the end of a line of telegraph poles on the West side of a public footpath, 150 yards North of B5448
OPEN Unusually for a 1968 closure not only do the telegraph poles survive but the telephone line is still in situ. All surface features remain intact but the ventilation louvres are missing. The hatch is open and the counterbalance has gone. Internally the post has been completely stripped of everything and is flooded to a depth of one foot.
A rectangular brick aircraft post stands nearby. It is approximately 12’ X 8’ with a wooden door in the East facing long wall. Internally the crew room is ‘L’ shaped with a stone seat. There is an 18” sep up (aided by a metal hand rail) to the opened topped observation area which is 5’ X 5’ with the corner containing the opening into the crew room cut off. There is a metal pole in the middle of the floor which would have had the post instrument table mounted on top.
Opened in 1962 and closed in 1968.
