On waste ground at the end of a line of telegraph poles just to the North of a track running West across the former Mepal Airfield, 100 yards West of the new A142
OPEN All surface features are intact with the green pain in excellent condition. internally the post is vandalised, fire damaged and rubbish strewn. Remaining artifacts includes chairs, folding table and shelf, cupboard with the doors off, two mattresses, wiring and aerial cable indicating this was a master (radio) post with metal dome on ventilation shaft.
An aircraft observation position consisting of a concrete plinth surrounded by railings and a short wooden pole (for telephone connection) stands nearby.
Opened in 1960 and closed in 1991.
