Rain Hill Quarry at Barnoldswick was a limestone quarry in Lancashire. When the Leeds and Liverpool Canal passed through the village, a short branch canal was built to connect to thge quarry and provide for the transport of its output. The short branch was generally known as ‘Little Cut’ and included two tunnels.
The tunnels are the only ones on the Leeds and Liverpool Canal to include towpaths within. The total branch length uis just 800 metres and the tunnels are around 100 metres each.
