In a small very secure rectangular compound at the end of a line of telegraph poles, on the East side of a field boundary. 120 yards East from Kings End Lane.
LOCKED The post is now used to house communications equipment and an aerial mast has been constructed just outside the compound. All surface features remain intact but the top of the access shaft has been rebuilt and a new hatch (similar to a Torlift) fitted. It is secures with a thick iron bar across the top. The green paint is flaking badly on the ventilation shaft.
Opened in 1962 and closed in 1991.

Visited the post last in the summer of 2024, the communications equipment has been removed along with the aerial mast (a concrete pad remains). The hatch has no iron bar across and can be opened with a square shaped tool. Inside there is a desk with wall mounted shelving and what looks like the remains of a bunk bed. I would recommend visiting in the summer as in the winter the floor tends to flood knee deep with water.

Visited August 2025, accessed via footpath in next field, couldn’t get into compound as still has 6 foot fence round with barbed wire on top and locked? gate. Might be easier if you walk down farmers track on other side? From footpath field could see unbarred hatch. Hope to revisit, go down lane & gain access!
