At the end of a line of telegraph poles within a large square compound in the grounds of Stanford Reservoir on the north side of High Street.
LOCKED. All surface features are intact and in good condition but the compound is rather overgrown. Internally the post as been swept clean and tidied before it was abandoned. All the furniture remains including folding shelf and table, cupboard and dismantled bunks. The WB1401 and associated BT equipment remains in place together with various BT junction boxes. There is no chemical toilet in the post.
On the side of the reservoir a two storey brick observation tower in good condition overlooks the underground post. There is still glass in the window but the door is boarded up.
Opened in 1962 and closed in 1991.
