Opened in 1941 as a Ground Controlled Interception (GCI) site. So giving it the distinction of being the longest continuously occupied radar station in Britain, and probably the world.

There was a fire in the ROTOR R13 bunker on 16th February 1966 and three firefighters were killed, report on this fire at RAF Neatishead bunker fire. The R13 bunker had not been used sinece then but there a Remote Radar Head at the site and the RAF Air Defence Radar Museum.
