Lilleshall, near Newport in Shropshire, is the site of a former limestone mine and quarry. Extraction started in the 18th century in open quarry workings but in the 19th century most of the stone was extracted from underground workings. The gated entrances to three adits still exist, as do some former limestone kilns on the quarry floor.
The underground workings are now flooded to near surface level. The mine ceased production in the 1870s although some small scale extraction may have continued for a few years. A few buildings related to the industry survive in nearby Barracks Lane.
