In a large rectangular compound beside a trig station. On the west side of an un-named minor road just off the top of Wideford Hill. Wideford Hill is a public viewpoint with several radio masts.
LOCKED All surface features remain intact with the green paint flaking. A metal dome on the ventilation shaft indicates this was a master post. The original standard Scottish hatch has been replaced with an English style hatch. This is locked.
Opened in 1960 and closed in 1991.

Kim Foden was the Chief Observer of 60 Post at Kirkwall, Orkney, which was at the top of a cold and windy hill. She recalled enjoying the camaraderie with fellow Observers and the various training exercises, as well as her dislike for the uniforms:
