In a square compound on the east side of an un-named minor road.
OPEN Two thirds of the compound has been tarmacced for use as a car park. There is a disused telegraph pole beside the road. All surface features are still in place with the green paint flaking badly. The step is detached and the concrete apron around the access shaft is breaking up. There is considerable damaged to the top of the access shaft caused by someone trying to break in, the hatch is missing and its surrounding frame is lying on the grass nearby. There is also some damaged to the top of the adjacent ventilation shaft. There was a small metal frame at one side of the compound with a revolving pole on top of it. This has a metal grid on the top with muslin stretched over it. A similar feature was observed at Trawsfynedd in North Wales where it was suggested this was for monitoring fall out from the nearby nuclear power station. This has no disappeared. Internally there is 4" of water on the floor. The table, shelf and cupboard remain in place together with a chair, BPI mount (detached), light, wiring, some papers, cleaning materials, waste bin and siren box. The post was sold in 2003.
Opened in 1962 and closed in 1991.
