In an overgrown fenced compound at top of a flight of steps on the South side of Hamstreet Road (B2067)
OPEN All surfaces features are in good condition. When first visited in 1997 the hatch had been welded but the welds have now been cut prior to the sale of the post in 2003. The internal locking mechanism is broken but has been repaired with a nut and bolt and the hatch now requires a 6mm Allen key to open it. Internally the post has been wrecked and was used until 1996 as a den by local children. The post strewn with rubbish, drink cans and bottles, the wall is covered in graffiti and photographs. The only remaining ROC furniture is the cupboard although there are numerous other items of furniture including chairs, a table and another cupboard and a large mattress that have been brought in at a later date. Little else remains from ROC days except one small saucepan.
There is a brick and concrete structure within the compound that resembles a Type 23 pillbox although members of No 1 Group ROC Association believe it to be the WW2 post. There is a bed in the covered section and a mounting in the open section for the post instrument.
Opened in 1961 and closed in 1991.
