Next to coastguard station at the end of Coastguard Lane.
WELDED All surface features are intact and in excellent condition. The post was locked on first visit but since then the hatch has been painted grey and welded shut following regular vandalism. It still contains: table, shelf, cupboard, swivel chair and various papers. The GZI is mounted on top of the nearby coastguard lookout.
David Heyes 10.09.12 As you can see from the pictures its suffering now, the externals are degrading and the rabbits seem to commit rabbitacide via the vent shafts the welds are rotten allowing the hatch to be opened the stuff that was in there has been removed since I saw inside before it was welded up and there are several dead rabbit carcases and the floor is suffering dry rot. Its internally dry no water in the sump etc just been lightly vandalised I guess! It’s in a compound with restricted access (permission obtained to visit)
The ROC used the lower floor of the coastguard lookout a few yards to the north within the same compound.
Opened in 1960 and closed in 1991.
