The Copenhagen Metro has four lines labelled M1 (coloured green on plans), M2 (yellow) M3 (red) and M4 (blue). A fifth line is in the planning stage but not expected to open until 2035. The system is driverless throughout and one of the few rapid transit systems that operates 24/7. ‘Next Train’ indicators unusually show the next train to the nearest half minute. The first part of the network opened in 2002 and it now totals 44 stations, of which 30 are underground. Line M3 (the City Circle Line) is entirely underground and as well as connecting other lines, helpfully serves the Central Train Station which boosted passenger numbers after its opening in 2019. Daily passengers are now around 460,000. The Metro Headquarters is at the southern end of line M1 at Vestamager. The map pin is located here, where facilities include control rooms, maintenance and stabling facilities plus a good run of line available for testing purposes.
