Brownlow House, also known locally as Lurgan Castle, is a large house dating from 1833 and built for Irish Politician Charles Brownlow.
It was used by the armed forces in World War I as a troop headquarters for Irish Regiments. In World War II it became the headquarters for American Troops in Northern Ireland. The particular underground interest is that in the basement there remains some fine World War II graffiti. The graffiti forms part of a museum which describes the wartime history of the house. Details of how to book tours are on the house website.
