At the end of a line of telegraph poles, on a mound on a high point on East side of Bamburgh Golf course, 60 yards North of B1342.
OPEN All surface features remain intact but the green paint is flaking badly. A metal dome on the ventilation shaft indicates this was a master post. When visited in 2000it was noted that the padlocks had been cyt but the hatch was secured with a stout iron bar padlocked in place. This has now been cut. Internally the post is wet and retains its table, shelf, cupboard and some papers.
Opened in 1963 and closed in 1991.

The ventilator shaft vent has fallen out and the hatch has been bent in. Lots of litter is in the post. The paint is flaking.
All very sad to see.

The post has been sealed with a metal grate below the hatch which has been replaced with drain cover.

The ROC post is still SEALED all surface features remain intact with flanking light blue paint, the posts hatch has been torn off and replaced with metal bars which are welded to the inner side of the access shaft. Looking down into the access shaft there is about 1 inch of water and some rubbish. On the rest of the exterior the post is in fairly good condition with the BPI (Bomb Power Indicator) mount still intact, there are also some wires sticking out of the Ventilation shaft, this was probably for connection to a radio. All of the Ventilation louvers are also still intact. A few metres nearby the bunker still survives the original base for an orlit post. Otherwise that the post is in fair condition for a 1991 shut down.
