Notes: The station first closed on 1.1.1916, reopening again
on 7.7.1919. It closed again on 11.4.1921 on and reopened on 11.4.1921.
It closed again on 22.9.1924 and reopened on 6.10.1924. At some
time it was known as Bridport Harbour. There was an ambitious
plan hatched in 1995 to open a narrow gauge railway between Crewkerne
- Portland passing through West Bay. The
Brit Valley Railway was to be built in 3 phases, Phase 1 being
a line from Bridport - West Bay. Their business plan was completed
in April 2001 but since then there have been nor further reported
developments.
The station has been fully restored with a short length of track
re-laid alongside the platform. The station building is now a
cafe.
