An underground seismic monitoring station was built at Kingsclere, 8km south of the Atomic Weapons Research Establishment at Aldermaston. The 'bunker' is built into a low chalk bank on the north side of Hollowshot Lane, a bridleway running south east from Kingsclere Village to Rectory Lane.

As built, the monitoring station was used to detect nuclear detonations from around the world. Externally it consists of a single blast protected entrance with a steel door and a steel grille in front of the door. There is no emergency access point.

The monitoring station is operated by Güralp Systems with the CMG-3TB triaxial instrument mounted in a 50 metre borehold
