County Wigtownshire
Date opened January 1964

Location In a large square compound on the west side of a minor access road opposite High Ardwell Farm.
Description LOCKED All surface features remain intact with the light green paint flaking badly. The ventilation louvers are missing on the ventilation shaft adjacent to the access shaft. A metal dome and aerial bracket on the other ventilation shaft indicates this was a master post. One aerial guying point is also visible. The hatch is locked but can be opened with a Scottish 'T' Bar key. There is some damage to the concrete around the hatch. Internally the post is flooded to a depth of 4" but much remains including the table, shelf, cupboard, 2 mattresses, pick axe, brush, Jerry can, BT wiring and junction boxes, light and wiring. There are also packets of national emergency paper (still sealed), various other papers, duffel coat,
battery box, cooking utensils, BPI mount, mirror, and a pipe for the aerial pump. When inspected in January 2004 the water level had risen to 15".
