Date closed September 1991
Location In an overgrown rectangular compound on the north west side of a sharp right angle bend in Downs Lane. 10 yards south of a disused lime kiln beside the road.
Description OPEN All surface features remain intact with the green paint in good condition. An aerial bracket and metal dome on the ventilation shaft indicates this was a master post. There is a metal sign on the fence which reads "Crown Property Keep Out" this is bolted over an earlier sign which reads "Ministry of Defence Keep Out". The hatch is open. Internally the post is a mess strewn with rubbish and with 2 inches of stagnant water of the floor. The table and shelf are detached. The cupboard is in place together with a siren box, battery, battery switching box (broken), coax cable, other wiring and two mattresses. When the Parish Council learnt the post was open in 1998 they decided that the nearby kiln should be demolished and the rubble tipped down the shaft. The farmer who owns both structures is opposed to this proposal but it is likely that the post will be sealed in someway in the near future.
