Date opened December 1960

Location In a rectangular compound on top of Maker Redoubt 1 (A part of Maker Fort which consists of 5 redoubts, two batteries and Maker Barracks together with a WW2 HAA battery). South of B3247 Maker Lane.
Description OPEN All surface features remain intact although one louvre is lying on the ground and another is at the bottom of the shaft. A metal dome on the ventilation shaft indicates this was a master post. The green paint is flaking badly. The hatch is open. Internally the post has been trashed and is strewn with rubbish. The top of the cupboard and the doors have been ripped off, the monitoring room door is detached and the toilet door is missing. The table is detached. Other artifacts include the BPI mount, battery box, some coax cable, waste bin, BT connection boxes (broken) and a small splint. The owners of the Maker Fort complex want to retain the post as part of an ongoing project to preserve the Napoleonic remains.

"The noticeable difference with the ones already on the Subbrit entry is that the undergrowth has now been entirely cleared, revealing the post in all its glory."
