| Location | On the downs to the west of Lewes, just east of the old racecourse. In the corner of a field beside a caravan. |
| Description | OPEN Three of the four corner compound fence posts survive. All surface features remain intact with a little flaking of the green paint, The earth cover around the post has been removed leaving both shafts standing on 8 courses of bricks. The BPI pipe has gone and the FSM pipe stands 5' high. On the ventilation shaft one both louvers are missing and one of the holes has been filled with concrete. The top of the access shaft has been reconstructed and a new larger hatch (Torlift) fitted. The hatch is open. Internally the post has been stripped of all original artifacts with only a mattress remaining. It is being used to store junk including numerous items of hi fi equipment. The walls have been partly painted black. In the autumn of 2000 a planning application to build a bungalow on the sites was turned down but the owners of the old racecourse are appealing. If the application is granted it is intend to retain the monitoring room as a cellar. |
