County Yorkshire
Date opened January 1964
Date closed September 1991
Location In a large rectangular compound at the end of a line of telegraph poles 50 yards south of Flight Hill
Description LOCKED All surface features remain intact with some flaking of the green paint. There is some damage to the ventilation shaft adjacent to the access shaft. There is a metal; dome on the other ventilation shaft indicating this was a master post. The top of the access shaft has been reconstructed and a new larger hatch (Torlift) fitted. The hatch is locked with its security plug in place but can be opened with a Torlift key. Internally much remains including the table (detached), cupboard, WB1401 carrier receiver with WB1410 filter unit, Tele-Talk, 2 small splints, 2 kettles, BT connection boxes, battery switching box, cluster map, mirror, spare gaskets for FSM probe, copper earth straps, dustpan & brush and rope. The post has been wired for mains electricity with one light and two 13A power sockets. The wire terminates at the bottom of the shaft where presumably there was a connection to an external generator.
April 2016

Holmfirth is now open. The lock has been removed and the inside had about 2 inches of water in it. Most of the features have gone as well.
