| Description | OPEN All surface features remain intact with some flaking of the green paint. There is some damage to the access shaft with the louvres missing from the adjacent ventilation shaft. A metal dome on the other ventilation shaft indicates this was a master post. The hatch is open. Internally the post is strewn with rubbish and fire damaged with everything covered in soot. Remaining artefacts include table, shelf, cupboard, siren box, map showing local posts, BPI mount, BT connection boxes (melted), kitchen sink and draining board mounted in dexion rack, light, wiring, pots and pans, cutlery, broom, fire blanket box and one pair of Wellington boots. The elsan chemical toilet is still in its original packing and has never been used. Since this post inspection in 2000 there has been some additional external damage to the top of the access shaft and the hatch is now missing. A post inspection in 2007 noted another fire in the post that bhas now destroyed everything that remained. |
