A Civil Defence training centre, consisting of a wooden hut was built in the grounds of Walton-on-Thames Council offices in about 1964. Although it offers no blast or fallout protection it was also designated as the Walton-on-Thames Area Sub-Control, remaining in use until the disbanding of the Civil Defence Corps in 1968.
The building still stands and now houses the Walton Medical Centre. WW2 ambulance and fire stations stand alongside.
Those taking part in the visit were Nick Catford, Keith Ward and Jane MacGregor.
