RAF Drytree was a World War II Chain Home radar station, constructed in 1940. Elements of the Receiver site lie to the south east of Goonhilly Downs Satellite Earth Station, itself constructed in the 1960s. In order to construct the earth station, the Transmitter buildings were demolished.
What does remain includes the main Receiver Building which, although not underground, is surrounded by a substantial protective earth mound. The remains of protected air-raid shelters can also still be seen. The site is now part of the Goonhilly Downs National Nature Reservce and can be freely visited.
