In the middle of an arable field beside radio aerial and trig. station, 400 yards south of un-named minor road and 400 yards SE of Habchester Fort (ancient monument).
LOCKED The post is used to house radio equipment. All surface features remain intact with the green paint flaking badly and the hatch is locked. When visited in 1998 a 30' radio mast stood alongside. This has now (6.4.2002) been removed and there is a shorter mast coming up through the FSM pipe. BPI pipe now has an additional U-shaped piece added to it. There has been some undermining of the concrete apron and subsequent soil erosion. A large length of co-ax cable protruded from the ventilation shaft and is coiled round it. There is some minor damage to the rear of the ventilation shaft. Visited in 2004. Low Band antenna on the radio mast and electric fence around the site.
The base of an Orlit A is visible between the post and the trig. station. There are two brick hexagonal RAF WWII DF tower bases West of the ROC post. One has been incorrectly described as an ORLIT by the RCAHMS. There appears to have been a large RAF DF station with a number of structures on aerial images.
Opened in 1960 and closed in 1991.
