On the South side of Long Lane (rear access track that becomes footpath) and at the rear of 81 Highfield Avenue. An unofficial path crosses the post to join Long Lane.
OPEN All surface features remain intact although the step up to the access shaft is detached. Some compound fence posts remain in the undergrowth. The hatch was open at the time of the inspection but it had been sealed in the past by the owner of 81 Highfield Avenue who intends to seal it again as children have had to be rescued from the post in the past. The ladder was missing and access was gained using an electron caving ladder. Twin bunks, cupboard, folding table and shelf and BPI mounting board remain in place. The walls are painted white and are surprisingly free of graffiti considering the close proximity of housing. The owner of 81 Highfield Avenue is campaigning to have the post demolished.
The Orlit B was demolished some years ago by the owner of 81 Highfield Avenue because children were climbing into it and looking into his garden.
Opened in 1957 and closed in 1968.
