Beneath a staff car park at the Carmarthenshire County Council Headquarters lies a nuclear bunker. It was built in the 1980s to house the emergency council Cold War control.
The main operations room was around 8 metres square and other rooms held communications equipment, air filtration, toilets and emergency generator. All equipment has been removed and generator was relocated to power part of the main building, including the emergency planning function. An emergency exit from the bunker emerged across the car park.
