In a rectangular compound on the edge of a hilltop quarry, 250 yards south of Headsmuir Farm and 700 yards south of A721.
SEALED All surface features are intact with the green paint flaking. The hatch has been removed and the concrete around it broken away. The hatch was capped with concrete (not filled) in the late 1990’s to deter drug users who had been using the post. There is a raised concrete apron around the access shaft. The louvres on the ventilation shaft adjacent to the access shaft have been replaced with very short metal louvres and the remaining section of the holes have been blocked with concrete. The top of the main ventilation shaft has broken off and it’s metal louvres are lying on the ground.
Close by is a base of a brick built aircraft post with several course of bricks remaining. The building is approximately 10' X 6' with a 3' X 6' crew room and a 6' X 6' observation area. The metal frame that supported the wooden instrument table remains. The building is filled with fallen bricks, several bed ends, a short ventilation louvre and rubbish
