Station Name: TANHOUSE LANE

Looking east showing what is likely to have been the eastbound track of the Widnes Loop Line at Tanhouse Lane. Behind the earth mound which can be seen across the trackbed in Tan House Lane which was crossed by means of a level crossing. The station was on the east side of the crossing. The line leading off to the left of the picture served a cement factory until 2000. The factory and its sidings were the only reason why a section of track from the original line has survived for more than 40 years after closure. The area will be laid out as a public park and the section of original track will be preserved as a feature and as a commemoration of the long forgotten Widnes Loop Line.
