Notes: Notes: Spellow Station was situated on the LNWR Canada Dock Branch which ran from Edge Hill through the northern suburbs of Liverpool to the Docks. The line opened to Canada Dock in 1866 for goods traffic. In 1870 a passenger service was extended along the line from Tuebrook Station. On 5th September 1881 a branch was opened to Alexander Dock which was also served by passenger trains. All of the stations on the line had closed by 31/05/1948 although it continued to be used by Liverpool Lime Street - Southport through coaches from and to London Euston. Latterly this service was offered by a connecting DMU but when the Merseyrail Loop and Link line opened in 1977 it was withdrawn.

The railway at this location is in a deep cutting so from the street level booking office steps led down to the platforms.

Today the line is a very busy freight route to the north Liverpool docks.
