Notes: The original Herculaneum Dock station opened as the
southern terminus of the Liverpool Overhead Railway on 4.2.1893.
| When it first opened trains went north to
Alexandra Dock station but just over a year later the line
was extended further north to Seaforth Sands station. On
21.12.1896 a southern extension was opened to Dingle and
this necessitated the building of a new Herculaneum Dock
station slightly further north. The original station was
then used as a carriage shed until the lines closure. |

By 1905 trains traveled through
Herculaneum Station to Seaforth and Litherland in the north
and to Dingle in the south.
In common with most of the Liverpool Overhead Stations Herculaneum
was located 16ft above street level and was reached by stairs
in both of its incarnations. |
The line closed along with all of its stations due to the structure
corroding on 30.12.1956.
Herculaneum Dock station was demolished with the rest of the
Overhead Railway towards the end of 1957.
