Subterranean Stories - BBC Radio 4 [Posted February 25.]

Subterranean Stories: Dylan Winter travels back 60 years, and down 50 feet, to discover Winston Churchill's secret wartime bunker, hidden in the North London suburb of Dollis Hill. This is where, had the war gone badly wrong, Churchill might have made his last stand against the invading Panzer brigades. After decades of neglect, this deep level bunker has recently been opened up by members of the group Subterranea Britannica, and in the company of two Sub Brit enthusiasts, Dylan goes in search of evidence of Churchill's occupation.

ROC group control at Winchester: Application to demolish the 60's control bunker and convert the listed WW2 control [Posted February 12.]

The owner of the ROC group control at Winchester has applied to demolish the 60's control bunker and convert the listed WW2 control (a unique survival) into dwellings, which will destroy its integrity.

15 houses and 8 flats proposed by Bayveiw Developments, which will also ruin this rural character of the site.

The WW2 control has been listed by English Heritage and the cold war control has been earmarked for listing. This is a unique site with a WW2 ROC Group Control and a Cold War Group Control together on the same site. (Both buildings do survive at Watford but the WW2 building has been radically altered to fulfil its new role as a vets surgery, the WW2 building at Winchester is largely unchanged)

Please send letters of objection, referring to reasons above to:

Robin Cooper
Director of Development Services
Winchester City Council
